One-on-one Student Testimonies
The structure is useful and encourages immediate language use with practical examples. This is the first language class that has allowed me to advance quickly from no knowledge to writing, speaking, and being able to understand some words and sentences in just a few weeks. The focus on grammar and useful language practice is beneficial to my growing writing and conversation skills in the language. This class has been a good mental exercise and the instruction has encouraged me to keep learning. It is not a boring class, and I am excited to continue to learn and practice this language in the long-term.
I am learning more than I ever thought I could!
These classes have accelerated my learning beyond all my expectations. The lessons are well-structured and appropriately paced and fun! Iya Yoruba is a kind, generous and patient instructor and a consummate professional. I am astonished at how quickly she helped me gain confidence in starting to converse in Yoruba. What I've been trying to do on my own for years she has accomplished in a matter of a few weeks. I especially appreciate the video recordings of our lessons and the working document we use for our notes. I'm honored to recommend her.
Classes with Iya Yoruba are the highlight of my day. The classes are tailored to my interest and learning style, while still teaching me the standard basics for Yoruba. The pace of learning is quickened when I am understanding and absorbing everything, and the pace of the class slows down when I need more understanding on a certain topic. Iya Yoruba is patient, engaging and well informed about the Yoruba language. I can see my own progress and I have become a conversational speaker in just under 4 months.
I really feel I'm learning YORUBA LANGUAGE and our oluko give to us a lot of information that is quite useful. She really knows the language and can teach us well.
The instructor is knowledgeable, able to teach the concepts, structure and grammar. She is also patient and approaches her work with a lot of humour.
Very educative for me and I can definitely see an improvement in my Yoruba.
Yes, you are a great teacher and I appreciate the flexibility you have with my schedule. I feel like we keep it real with each other which I super appreciate.
Very very good classes! I'm learning quickly. The focus seems to be on formal (diacritics, etc). Ìyá Yorùbá is an excellent teacher. She is thorough, patient, friendly, and highly skilled, all highly desired skill that you would want in a language instructor.
Compared to previous teachers I have had who were native speakers, you have a more in-depth knowledge of the language and are able to explain grammar and other language concepts better. I like the encouraging style of teaching.
You take your time to explain to the children and you are able to work through their idiosyncrasies. The children look forward to class and feel sad when they think they have offended Oluko. This, to me, shows a teacher who is able to communicate with the students and that is a great plus in teaching.
Yorùbá Summer Camp Testimonies
The curriculum was very good. Most of all the facilitator was excellent. She was respectful and very patient with the kids. She also ensured all children were carried along. At the end of each day my children were excited to not only learn more Yoruba but repeat what they have learnt.
It is a welcome development and provides a platform for the introduction of Yoruba in an interesting and engaging process.
It was a fantastic school for the children. The children enjoyed the daily home work and the test at the end of the camp. I listened in a few times and I loved the interactive sessions between the children and the teacher. Yes. It was value for money for the elder one and a nice experience for the younger one.
Ilana enjoyed it so much. She was always excited to engage the material. She now watches nigerian films and displays a genuine interest in the culture. She really gained a lot
I think it was EXCELLENT well organised!
It was very well organized and had engaging activities. Our son loved the songs using it as an effective way to learn. We would like to expand his learning beyond the camp to start from the basics about the yoruba alphabet.
Ìyá Yorùbá is an excellent teacher! We love her! A dúpẹ́ Ìyá
